The first in a series of exhibitions of new work by emerging contemporary South African artists Franli Meintjes, Mashudu Nevhutalu and Hannalie Taute. Curated by Brenton Maart and Sally Shorkend.
Meintjes, Nevhutalu and Taute are part of a group of practitioners who, collectively, describe the emerging edge of South African contemporary visual art. Bank: Emerging Contemporaries is an on-going exhibition programme – documented the manner in which artists’ practice integrated with the visual arts sector. In the instance of Meintjes, Nevhutalu and Taute, all are recipients of leading awards and competitions; show work in diverse exhibition contexts including commercial and non-commercial galleries, museums, corporate spaces and arts festivals; were awarded degrees and diplomas in their related fields of practice; and, in one instance, and were selected for an international biennale.
