Strjidom van der Merwe presents his two-fold solo exhibition, LINE.
Van der Merwe primarily draws his inspiration for his new body of work from the landscape. The use of the line becomes a subtle reminder of humankind’s imposition on the landscape, although it is visually expressed as an aesthetical shape. The exhibition consists of the documentation of land artworks with paintings and sculptural paintings of road markings.
With opening speaker, Carina van der Walt and a performance by Act One, guests are invited to a glass of wine and to meet the artist himself. For the opening night only, Protea Bookshop has Van der Merwe’s book, Sculpting the Land, available for purchase.
