Moving Into Dance 40th Celebration

15 to 22 September 2018

Acclaimed South African dance company Moving into Dance Mophatong (MIDM) celebrates 40 years of impacting social justice through dance.

This season, the company presents two programmes: Equinox 1 (15 to 16 September) and Equinox 2 (20 to 22 September).

Equinox 1 includes the following performances:

Passage of Rites
Choreographed by MID Founder, Sylvia “Magogo” Glasser, and inspired by her poem, Passage of Rites premiered at the 1997 Dance Umbrella and was nominated for an FNB Vita Dance Umbrella choreographic award in 1998.

The Women Who Fell From The Moon
Featuring the choreographic exploits of MID’s female dancers together with the narrative resounds of award-winning theatre maker Khutjo Green. Having opened The Jomba! Contemporary Dance Festival 2018, the Johannesburg Premiere is said to enthral local audiences.

Equinox 2 comprises of the following performance:

We Are Still Marching
Originally commissioned by The Playhouse Company, and choreographed by Sunnyboy Motau of MID, We Are Still Marching has its Gauteng premiere featuring the MID professional Dance Company. This work is a celebration of women, their lives, and their struggles, and promises an unforgettable experience for all lovers of dance.
