My Father’s Coat

23 to 23 November 2017

my fathers coatInherit South Africa presents My Father’s Coat, the acclaimed story of South Africa’s history by renowned speaker Michael Charton.

Charton condenses the epic narrative of South Africa into five bite-size stories as told from the individual viewpoints of five prominent and directly interlinked protagonists spanning 200 turbulent years: Mzilikazi, Kruger, Rhodes, Smuts and Mandela.  The fact that the lives of these men overlapped creates the opportunity to relate the same pivotal encounters through opposing sets of eyes, illuminating and embracing the realities of the world in each man’s perception.

Charton’s belief is that the nation’s past should not be used as a tool to inspire fear and division, but as a source of unity and healing. This decade-long project has resulted in a unique product which brings a new clarity to a notoriously complex subject.

Tickets for this show are sold out, but Michael Charton will return with ‘My Father’s Coat’ in May 2018.
