Founded in 2005, Fried Contemporary focuses on curated exhibitions by artists from South Africa. The Collector’s Room, launched in August 2014, is a dedicated art space in the gallery that showcases the works of professional artists to collectors and invited guests.
Inspired by the potential of Pretoria as a creative hotbed, the gallery has subsequently launched an annual exhibition programme, titled ‘Progeny’ which literally means ‘offspring’ or ‘descendants’. The aim of this annual exhibition programme is to provide a platform for younger artists who are the next generation of torchbearers for artists to follow.
