Event information
Dennis, a food writer and leader of the African Food & Storytelling Experience, shows guests downtown Cape Town's lesser-known food gems while celebrating Pan-Africanism.
In three hours, guests use food as a means to travel from South Africa to Mali, Ethiopia, and Somali. All these traditional customs, methods of cooking and spices will be explored without once leaving the city.
The tour includes roughly five stops reflecting authentic African dishes and beverages. Entrepreneurs in the area who promote African unity and creativity are visited and guests and guides have open conversations about painful forces of division in the country, such as racism, xenophobia and gentrification.
Guests on the tour can expect to share a meal of injera, soft pap, floral cafe touba and more unique traditional eats. Real-life stories of community leaders are shared during the meal, and Xhosa musician Khofhi The King treats guests to a live performance.
