Amie Soudien hosts Lunchtime Lecture

UCT's Michaelis School of Fine Art hosts a free lecture in which Amie Soudien discusses the importance of artistic creation in commemorating and preserving the memory of slavery in South Africa.

Amie Soudien explores the possibilities around producing new knowledge that centres South Africa's painful history of slavery. Soudien is a renowned Art History lecturer at the University of Cape Town, who also holds a PhD and contributes to multiple publications as a writer and editor.

This is a thought-provoking conversation regarding the role of artistic and poetic practice in remembering South Africa's dark past. It also aims to consider the possibilities for future conversations of this topic, and looks to find the next step forward.

No RSVPs are required, and all are welcome.
