Aquila Private Game Reserve is named after the endangered black or verreaux eagle (Aquila verreauxii) and is situated in the historic town of Touws River, in a valley between the Langeberg and the Outeniqua Mountains.
This conservancy has evolved from its early days of being home to various antelope species only, to becoming home to the Big 5 and a significant variety of other wild game, which roams freely on the reserve.
Aquila is a luxury four star establishment. There is a restaurant that seats 300, a smaller outdoor boma restaurant, a salt water swimming pool, a pool bar, conference centre and a Spa.
Aquila’s purpose is to protect and preserve Africa’s increasingly threatened wildlife and espouses a commitment to social upliftment, job creation, skills development and runs various sustainable empowerment programmes.
