The 50s American diner style burger bar and theatre, Beefcakes, mixes 1950s Americana with camp humour featuring over-the-top live comedy and drag performances. With outlets in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria, Beefcakes has carved a reputation as one of South Africa’s premier LGBTQ+ venues.
Though Beefcakes in located in one of Cape Town’s busiest streets: Somerset Road, Greenpoint, it’s hard to miss its flamboyant pink and black exterior.
Beefcakes stages drag shows and camp cabarets performed by recognisable resident drag artists. Every Tuesday is a night of Bitchy Bingo mixed with cabaret, and hosted by comedian, Rhys Woods. On Wednesdays, the ‘Diva of Africa,’ Odidiva takes to the stage with live singing and dancing.
Thursdays are Beefcakes' signature variety drag nights with performances from some of South Africa's top and emerging drag acts including Betty Bangles and Kat Gilardi.
