The Blue Bird Garage Food & Goods Market in Muizenberg brings local artisans such as cooks, bakers, designers and producers under one roof for two evenings every week.
The market is a cornerstone of the town’s urban community. Guests can find local and international foods as well as beautiful handmade ceramics, clothing, jewellery, body products and vintages, with handpicked South Africa wines and craft beers also being sold at the market.
One of its key features is the Bicycle Bar which offers local beers on tap, as well as soft drinks, kombucha, wine and shooters. The market’s Secret Gin Bar sells unique local gins and gin cocktails. There is also a creative play area for kids that features face painting and sand art, as well as a jungle gym, and there is a Speakeasy for the adults to spoil themselves with goblets of gin and tonics, cocktails and some fancy shooters.
Dinner and dessert are served in the market with food ranging from steaks to falafels, brownies and donuts. Some stalls sell fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs, smokes sausages, cheeses and homemade jams and pickles.
Dogs are welcome to join the market festivities as long as they are on a leash.
