The Earthskills Gathering is a hands-on celebration of heritage crafts and skills and possibly SA's only nature-based, family-friendly skills fest.
Hosted by non-profit organisation Earthskills Africa, the Earthskills Gathering celebrates and supports local craft and skills keepers, and opens up enriching pathways for all those who enjoy wholesome, down-to-earth vibes (and company).
Held over Heritage Day long weekend, workshops include leathercraft, felt-making, woodcraft, Xhosa basketry, Xhosa mat making, blacksmithing, wild medicinals, friction fire, San teachings and stories, traditional archery, astronomy and more, all guided by passionate and experienced facilitators.
Attendees have a unique opportunity to learn more about land-based living and create their own functional items using natural materials, in a beautiful rural setting.
This create a skills village experience, sharing and exchanging stories and honouring the old ways and living simply, in connection with nature.
