Gariep Dam Nature Reserve is the Free State’s largest reserve. A combination of the Gariep Dam on the Orange River and an 11 237ha game sanctuary on its northern shore, the reserve is popular among game watchers, anglers and boating enthusiasts. The reserve also has the largest number of Springbok in the country and other animals such as zebra, black wildebeest and ostrich.
