House of Chommies

House of Chommies has opened a new concept store, located in a refurbished heritage building in Gardens, as the home of the pet accessory and lifestyle brand.

A carefully created retail destination, this location not only showcases Chommie's handcrafted walkwear but artisanal luxuries and new products in home, fashion and accessories too. The site also serves as an escape for both humans and dogs away from the busy city - the store boasts a courtyard with dog-friendly benches and a water fountain/dipping pond as well as bespoke cafe tables.

This space opens to the public on 5 December 2022 and becomes the brand's second Cape Town spot after the one located the Oranjezicht City Farm Market at the V&A Waterfront.

Chommies' creative director and founder Nathalie Klijn has left her mark on the building, which was once called Ravenswood House and is a late classical Georgian structure from the 1800s. Colourful ceilings and walls with murals and specially commissioned wallpaper depicting Cape Town scenes combine with other special touches to create a place where those with either two or four legs can feel at home.

The House of Chommies offers an array of locally handmade dog collars, leashes and harnesses as well as treats, toys and products for cats too. Shoppers can also design their own products.
