A trip to the 50th floor of the Carlton Centre building, also nicknamed the top of Africa, is an experience in itself with incredible views of the city from the best vantage point. The Picnic in the Sky Tour from tour operator Main Street walks, provides a picnic basket and blanket so guests can enjoy the view while sharing a picnic with friends and family.
Guest speakers start the tour by giving a short talk on the city and sharing their experiences. Visitors are then given a picnic basket, blanket and eating utensils and 30 minutes are allocated for guests to shop around Market On Main for food, snacks and drinks at their own cost. The popular market has a wide variety of gourmet and traditional dishes and treats. Once the food is purchased, a lift is taken to the 50th floor or the Carlton Centre.
