The Ratanga Park Sunset Concerts at Century City are held once a month at the newly transformed Ratanga Park. Fun-loving music enthusiasts can look forward to a picnic-style music experience with the scenic backdrops that are distinctive to the area.
The first concert, on the 25 February, features SAMA Award-winning Afrikaans Alternative band, Die Heuwels Fantasties, and opening act, the popular Cape Flats rapper, Jitsvinger.
Die Heuwels Fantasties is one of Cape Town`s most successful Afrikaans music groups whose high-energy performances include several radio hit songs, making them one of the most sought-after bands in South Africa. As their opening act, Jitsvinger brings his vivid wordplay and boom-rap-drenched Afrikaans music to the stage.
The second concert on the 17 March features Majozi, a local talent hailing from Durban. His music has been described as authentic and self-reflective, earning him many award nominations and great popularity within the local music scene.
The third concert, held on the 14 April, features the talents of Emo Adams. Adams is a multi-hyphenate singer, actor and producer who has also had success in musicals.
Concertgoers are welcome to bring their own picnics, but no alcoholic beverages and glass bottles are permitted. There are soft drinks, wine and beer on sale at each concert, as well as food offerings from local food trucks.
Attendees are also requested not to bring tables, chairs and gazebos, since these interfere with the sight lines of other patrons.
