The Market Theatre presents their theatre production of Brothers, a work which reflects tension derived from circumstance.
The production portrays the social strata and attitudes that existed within a family of poor whites who eked out a meagre existence in the hostile environment of a desolate area of the Eastern Cape in the 1950s.
The tension apparent in the production is stoked by the return of one of the brothers who had mysteriously disappeared, not to be heard of again for eighteen years. His return unveils secrets and frustrations that have remained hidden, only to result in tragedy with their inevitable release.
