Local indie pop musos December Streets release hot new single Haters, blending guitar-driven sounds and powerful synths with rhythmic vocal hooks.
Having climbed to fame over the years with dynamic and addictive indie-pop hits – most recently releasing acclaimed singles Wild Heart, Summertime and Messed Up – December Streets has had the time to grow personally and as a collective, working on new material that plays to their experiences.
The track’s creation is atributed to growing up alongside scepticism over their dreams of being in a successful band. Instead of letting such negativity get to them, they channeled it into a powerful drive to prove the haters wrong. Years later, they now have the opportunity to use their platform and success to share their message to underdogs and outliers.
Tristan Coetzee, December Streets front-man, says of the track: “This is one of my favourite tracks we’ve written. ‘Haters’ combines all the groovy rhythms with a powerful message of solidarity between outliers, sandwiched in a confident, care-free vibe. My hope for this song is that anyone who has their unique flair suppressed (for whatever reason), uses this song and message as a shield to negativity.”
