Once a small and sleepy suburb on the outskirts of Johannesburg, over the past 30 years, Fourways has turned into a fast-developing residential and commercial hub filled with a range of activities, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues for the public to enjoy. If you’re looking for a novel experience to excite you, here is our list of fun activities to enjoy during a day out in Fourways and its surrounds.
Life is a journey, and so is creating a special bottle of gin. The Inverroche Gin School is an educational and exciting journey through the endless world of gin.
Become a master gin distiller and create your own special blend of hand-crafted gin with their masterclass. A knowledgeable presenter takes you back in time to this spirit’s origin hundreds of years ago and all the way to the great popularity it enjoys today.
Then it’s time to make your own: during the two-hour class, you will have the chance to select your own tinctures and distil at your very own pot-still. At the end of the experience, you walk away with a 500ml bottle of gin with a personalised label, gin booklet, recipe card and a fun gift tag.
There is also a large, gin-inspired menu and cash bar where you can relax after the course is over.
Kindly contact the school for public dates available for individual bookings.

Over the last few years escape rooms have become a novel and popular way to have some fun with your friends, family or work colleagues while testing your problem-solving skills. Participants need to solve a series of puzzles before they run out of time in order to escape a specially-designed room.
At The Gr8 Escape venue in Fourways, teams of between two to six people have 60 minutes to escape from one of three rooms: the home of a wealthy gold trader Mr Charles A Clarence that has just caught fire, a booby-trapped insane asylum run by the sinister Dr Mulasy Tretour or (for the experienced escape roomer who is over 18) the basement where you wake up to find you’ve fallen into the hands of a psychopath.
To book your escape room experience, please visit the Gr8 Escape website.
