George Frideric Handel’s Messiah was originally an Easter offering. It was first performed at Musick Hall in Dublin in 1742 and has since become an annual festive season tradition in many households. This English-language oratorio has become one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music.
Messiah is performed by the Symphony Choir of Johannesburg and the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra and is conducted by Richard Cock.
