Henry George Gallery’s second solo exhibition for Margo Schöpf entitled Through a Glass Darkly.
Following on from her successful Catharsis exhibition last year, Margo maintains an on-going fascination with the obscure and imperfect vision of reality people tend to have. The artist wrestles with the idea that from our current human perception it is impossible to see everything clearly, but at the end of time one may understand the truth, the bigger picture, and how it all comes together.
In this body of work Margo pushes further into abstraction so that viewers become less aware of the subject matter and more intrigued by the thick textures of paint on canvas and the flashes of bright, saturated hues that appear from beneath scrapes of murky colour. Such loss of perspective is a reminder of the inability to see the whole story – there is what has come before and what is yet to come that is still not entirely known.
Those interested are invited for a first look at the exhibition’s opening from 6pm.
