Joburg Zoo Festival of Lights features a collection of illuminated life-size animal characters with classical, harmonious performances, food and craft markets for visitors.
Patrons can enjoy a tranquil walk in the zoo on a designated lit route away from the animals enclosures under trees decorated in captivating lights.
The festival commences with a classical performance of the Nutcracker by Joburg Ballet at the Bandstand at the Zoo from 1 – 8 December.
Joburg Zoo Festival Lights uses lighting decorations that are LED and energy efficient that make this an exclusive night market experience.
The Zoo boasts the Big Five, a vast 54 hectare site with animals from across all continents including rare species of animals from the Amazon.
In association with the City of Johannesburg entities, Joburg Theatre, City Parks and City power entertainment varies on a daily basis, offering entertainment and a night out in the zoo for all ages.
