A group exhibition by Joburg-based artists Lindo Zwane, Sizwe Khoza and Jan Tshikuthula, Khensani takes its name from the Xitsonga word meaning “giving thanks”, with gratitude and appreciation for their backgrounds and hometowns forming a central theme. The exhibition is a continuation of Zwane and Khoza’s ongoing tribute to the sacrifices of their mother while Tshikuthula reminisces on the joys of childhood in rural Venda.
Each artist’s work focuses on their backgrounds, accepting the past and acknowledging their present; learning from their life experiences. In the body of work all three artists are paying “tribute” to where they come from and how they perceive their future.
