European pianist Agnese Eglina presents a solo recital made up of dance-inspired pieces from the ages of music history. Eglina explores how dance rhythms have evolved and merged with layers of symbols and meaning throughout many generations.
In this recital, Agnese endeavours to link the likes of the baroque dance suite by J. S. Bach with 20th century classical piano music. Eglina tributes the French composer Maurice Ravel by playing his contemplation of the Spanish court, his imaginative ‘Valses Nobles et Sentimentales’ and more. These pieces bring to mind Ravel’s ancestry as part of the basque culture and his fascination with exotic Spanish culture.
