The National Children’s Theatre brings the much-loved rabbit to life in their latest production Peter Rabbit and Me.
This is a dramatisation of the beloved story of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Beatrix, a child of a strict father, stuck in a nursery, creates her own excitement by inventing and illustrating stories about her pet animals and toys. She imagines an adventure for her favourite: Peter Rabbit.
Viewers see her creating an early version of what becomes a story beloved by children everywhere: The Tale of Peter Rabbit. All the well-known characters are there: Mother Rabbit, Flopsey, Mopsey, Cottontail, the mouse, the birds, and of course, grumpy Mr McGregor.
The play gives a charming and revealing glimpse of a child’s life in strict Victorian England a hundred years ago, in contrast with the antics and freedom of Beatrix’s inventive, uninhibited and unconfined animal world. ‘Peter Rabbit and Me’ is filled with humour, adventure, colourful characters and all the wonder of children’s theatre.
NCT is the foremost theatre in Gauteng, shining the bright light of award-winning, engaging and educational theatre for children throughout SA.
Attendees are invited to bring masks, ground cover, low chairs, blankets, and a picnic basket.
