The Distillery Fair is a place to appreciate the finest selection of distilled products. It is hosted in the Johannesburg war museum, which means attendees can sip on their favourite dram of whiskey, rum, gin, or cognac amongst retired fighter jets, military artifacts, vehicles and world war history.
Also at the fair is a Whiskey Masterclass. Attendees are guided through a tasting of/pairing with the best Scotch Whiskey. The tasting experience details an introduction to the basic methodologies of what gives these varieties of whiskey their names. The experience also includes whiskey tastings of the GlenDronach 12yr old, 18yr old, 21yr old and 1 rare selection, crackers for palate cleansing and whiskey pairing and 45 minutes with the master whiskey connoisseur.
There is also a Gin Masterclass. This includes learning about the history of gin and how it is made and discovering the techniques and exotic botanicals used in gin production and experiencing how these affect the flavour and quality of gin. Attendees are also guided through the process of blending up your own gin recipe from a vast range of vapour infused botanicals.
There are many Distilleries at the fair, as well as craft food vendors and live music from top performing SA bands.
