September Highlights in Joburg


Spring is almost in bloom but what to do, where to go? In celebration of shorter nights and longer days ahead, we’ve put together a guide to 10 of the best events happening in Joburg this month.

Sculpture Fair at Melrose Arch


The inaugural sculpture exhibition takes place within gallery’s 290sqm space, showcasing works by many of South Africa’s established and emerging talents. Some of the line-up of confirmed artists include Noria Mabasa, Willie Bester, Wilma Cruise, Pitika Ntuli, Anton Smit, Vusi Khumalo, Carl Roberts and many others.

The Bubbly Sessions


The Arbour Cafe has partnered with Great Domains and MANGERmanje to bring guests a series of bubbly tasting evenings, paired with a specially designed four course menu. Each menu is unique to the event.

Standard Bank Joy of Jazz


The annual indoor jazz concert takes place over 3 nights and features both local and international artists and musicians. Lineup includes Oliver Mtukudzi, Gloria Bosman, Dianne Shuur, Joey De Francesco, New York Round Midnight Orchestra, Sand Live, Thandi Ntuli and many others.

Jozi Film Festival


The Jozi Film Festival provides a platform for local filmmakers to reach audiences under serviced by traditional cinemas, and to develop an audience for South African films. This year’s film list includes Make Up and CigarettesIt’s Only True LoveKeys of LifeMma Moeketsi and many others.

FNB Joburg 10K Cityrun


Attendees ate invited to run in the FNB Joburg 10K City Run in celebration of the city of Johannesburg. The run is flat and suitable for anyone to join regardless or age or fitness level, with the route twists and turns through the streets of Joburg, passing historical sites, renewed suburbs and familiar street names.

Cirque Infernal

Blood Brothers


The fourth annual Blood Brothers return to the stage with the common goal of rock ‘n rolling against cancer. This year’s lineup ois van Coke, Hanu De Jong, Jason Oosthuizen, Jaco Mans, Chris van der Walt, Laudo Liebenberg, Ard Matthews, Jedd Kossew, Adelle Nqeto, Allesandro Benigno, Warwick Rautenbach and Hunter Kennedy.

Travis Fimmel Comic Con Africa


A three-day event showcasing comic books, science fiction/fantasy-related film, television and similar popular arts. The exhibition also features animation, toys, gadgets, clothing, collectibles, games and novels, as well as celebrity appearances from the likes of Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Kevin Sussman (Big Bang Theory) and others.

Africa Aerospace and Defence - AAD
