Urban Gaze is a photography competition open to residents of the Gauteng City-Region (GCR) over the age of 18. The project aims to open up space for emerging photographers.
The exhibition features photographs by all the successful entrants, alongside the overall winner and five winners in each of the competition’s categories – Histories and Futures, Place and Movement, Economy and Economic Life, Sustainability and the Environment, and A Province and Its People.
Th exhibition also presents a body of work by award-winning fine art photographer Musa Nxumalo for the duration of the competition exhibition. Born in Soweto, where he currently lives and works, Nxumalo’s work explores youth culture, identity and the journey to self-discovery.
