This weekend, the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Creative Arts and the Johannesburg Market Theatre joins forces, to host a contemporary dance programme entitles ‘Resilience’ as a part of the 26th annual JOMBA! dance experience. Attend and witness three incredible pieces of choreography on the programme.

The first piece, ‘I Am African’, is choregraphed by Sifiso Kweyama and pays homage to the interconnectedness of South Africa’s diverse population. The second work, ‘Battlefiled’ is choreographed by Lihle Mfene and is about breaking free from societal constraints and embracing authenticity. The final piece, ‘Dark Flock’ has been crafted by acclaimed and award-winning duo MANACAN and delves into themes of intelligence, resilience, and unwavering willpower.

After sold out seasons at the National Arts Festival, Hilton Festival and The Cirk’s venue in Cresta, the producers of the exhilarating ‘Urban Circus‘ show have decided to bring an even better and bigger version to Montecasino.  The show uses acrobatics, acting, juggling and seamless ensemble work to take the audience on a tire-burning, nail-biting journey through a day in the city.

The show is composed of eleven vignettes, each following a central character’s interaction with different parts of Johannesburg and revealing the thrills and dangers of urban life.
