SHOP ANTIQUE HOMEWARE, FASHION, PERFUMES & OTHER COLLECTIBLES IN SANDTON

The Nelson Mandela Square Antique Fair takes place on 4 September in Sandton and is the perfect shopping trip for antique lovers.

South Africa’s longest-running monthly antiques and collectibles fair, this event attracts antique dealers from all over the world. Both the National Antiques and Decorative Arts Association (NAADA) and the South African Antique, Art and Design Association (SAADA) are exhibiting on the day.

A CRAFT MARKET, PARADE & MUSIC CONCERT AS WITS TURNS 100

Wits University turns 100 in 2022 and has planned a weekend of celebration around the Braamfontein area from 2 – 4 September. A Wits Parade procession starts at 1.30pm from the Origins Centre before a picnic on the Library Lawns. The day finishes off with a light show by the Piazza. This performance features Jesse Clegg, Sipho Mchunu, and the Johnny Clegg Band paying tribute to Johnny Clegg; Mango Groove; Samthing Soweto; Big Zulu; Khuzani; Holly Rey; Mduduzi Ncube; Lwah Ndlunkulu; the Wits Mass Choir and student bands. Other family-friendly activities on the day include arts and craft market and a kid’s play area. Find the full programme here.

A DECADENT HIGH TEA EXPERIENCE EVERY FIRST SATURDAY & SUNDAY

Olives And Plates Wits Club hosts their exclusive High Tea experience on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month.

A complimentary glass of bubbles is served to guests on arrival before they are seated at a beautiful table setup complete with fresh flowers. With a seasonal menu, the delicious eats are served individually on High Tea stands, first the savoury and then the sweets.

The Afternoon High Tea also features a mug of complimentary imported loose-leaf teas from Germany or a fresh-brewed plunger coffee.

SEE SCULPTOR ANTON SMIT’S STUNNING WORKS AT THIS PUBLIC EXHIBITION

Nelson Mandela Square, in collaboration with Artyli Gallery, has launched Art Live on the Square with the first exhibition Colossal.

From internationally-acclaimed local sculptor Anton Smit, Colossal features over 20 larger-than-life sculptures and explores South African identity. After this exhibition closes in October, more exhibitions are planned as part of the Art Live on the Square experience.

MINDFULNESS MIXED WITH VIBEY DANCE FITNESS AT SECRET SUNRISE JOHANNESBURG

Secret Sunrise JHB hosts another session as Jozi celebrates the changing of the seasons in Rosebank on 4 September.

To mark the start of Spring, participants are given headsets and are guided by facilitators through an experience that incorporates meditation and dance. All ages, genders, and fitness levels are welcome and attendees are urged to bring along water.

VIBRANT LIVE CONCERTS WITH LOCAL TALENT AT LEANO STAGE IN BRAAM

Leano Stage is hosting a lineup of great concerts again this weekend. You can look forward to a silent concert with Titi Luzipo and music from The Blk Skies Project.

Also performing is Musa The Voice doing previous and recent collection of his music. The album delivers exactly what’s expected of this lurv pantsula, a mix of collection between Afro-soul and Afropop songs that live at the intersection of love and real life.

CATCH THIS STIRRING WAR THEATRE PRODUCTION AT THE MARKET THEATRE

Charles J. Fourie’s critically acclaimed play The Parrot Woman i set against the harsh backdrop of the Anglo-Boer war of the previous century. This new production features a woman of African descent is found on a farm with the dead bodies of a Boer farmer, his wife and children. 

The British soldier who guards this strange parrot woman reveals an even more painful and touching truth surrounding this mysterious and apparently mad woman’s relationship with the farmer, his wife and children.

CREEPY CRAWLY CREATURES AND GOOD PIZZA AT THIS URBAN FARM
