WONDERBOOM CELEBRATES 25 YEARS WITH A GIG IN MELVILLE

WONDERboom has been hailed as one of South Africa’s longest-lived and most legendary rock bands, and still going strong. They have released 9 albums, headlined many major South African festivals and have been nominated for 5 ‘Best Rock Album’ awards in the South African Music Awards. The band is doing a special performance of their hits in Melville for one night only.

SEE PAUL SLABOZEBSKY’S NEW PLAY AT MONTE

In his uplifting play, award-winning South African playwright Paul Slabolepszy depicts an empowered and impassioned woman as the focus of his tale, while taking the audience on a nostalgic journey of recognition, sensitivity and insight relating to the return of Thandi, from an American exile to South Africa. A MAGICAL DINING EXPERIENCE FILLED WITH FOOD AND FANTASY

DinnerTime Stories brings a two-hour-long immersive culinary dining experience, using innovative 3D projection-mapping technology to animate ‘Le Petit Chef’ – a 58-mm-tall animated character, who appears to be cooking guests’ meals on their plates. All the ingredients of the six-course meal are creatively served in props and prepared by Executive Chef Kelly Nqobani Nonjinge.

A MUST-TRY MINDFULNESS PAINTING EXPERIENCE PAIRED WITH LIVE SOUNDS

Our headline event not to be missed this weekend is this soundscape painting workshop. Paul Boyter, a professional musician, mindfulness practitioner, and permaculturist, is planning a one-of-a-kind painting experience at The Tipper Warehouse.

This experience is designed to settle the 3 most common tensions – physical tension, mental tension, and emotional tension. through relaxation techniques and uncover your creative spirit. The musical component comprises an array of soothing meditative instruments such as the monochord, Tibetan singing bowls, handpan, drums and percussion.

Definitely a must-try!

VIEW LIONEL SMIT’S NEW MULTILAYERED ART EXHIBITION AT CIRCA GALLERY

The paintings and sculptures in Lionel Smit’s new exhibition depict a range of emotions and multiple, unknowable expressions, viewed from different angles, at different times, and through different media. The work also e14qxamines and reconfigures the relationship between a subjective (observer’s) gaze and the observed subject’s relationship with that gaze. Lionel Smit has been producing visual art for almost two and a half decades.

MINDFULNESS MIXED WITH VIBEY DANCE FITNESS AT SECRET SUNRISE JOHANNESBURG

Secret Sunrise JHB hosts another session as Jozi celebrates the changing of the seasons in Rosebank on 4 September.

To mark the start of Spring, participants are given headsets and are guided by facilitators through an experience that incorporates meditation and dance. All ages, genders, and fitness levels are welcome and attendees are urged to bring along water.
