CATCH THE FINAL WEEK OF THE BAG FACTORY ART’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY ART EXHIBITION
The Bag Factory is wrapping up its 30th-anniversary art exhibition, Bag Factory 30 Years: So Far, The Future, at FADA Gallery, University of Johannesburg.
This exhibition celebrates the gallery’s three-decade unique, long-standing relationship with artists and their legacy as a non-profit contemporary visual arts organisation with more than 80 works dating from 1991 to the present. Works are drawn from the Bag Factory’s collection of artworks by previous studio artists, award recipients, and visiting artists who have participated in our internationally renowned artist in residence programme.
They include the gallery’s co-founder the late David Koloane, Sam Nhlengethwa, Kagiso Patrick Mautloa, Mmakgabo Helen Sebidi, Penny Siopis, Tracey Rose, Thenjiwe Nkosi, Lady Skollie, and Blessing Ngobeni to name a few.
Initially founded in 1991 by Dr David Koloane, British philanthropist Robert Loder, and arts administrator Sandra Burnett, with support from artists like Kagiso Patrick Mautloa, Sam Nhlengethwa, and many others.

RELIVE THE CHARM OF RETRO DRIVE-IN CINEMA WITH SANDTON CITY’S MOVIE EVENINGS
Looking for a way to keep the kids entertained over the weekend? Sandton City recently launched The City Drive-In, screening a selection of films on the rooftop parking in partnership with Ster-Kinekor.
This drive-in cinema in Joburg runs from Thursday to Sunday, until 31 July. You can look forward to a lineup of films, from modern classics to new releases, and everything in between. This week’s roster includes the much-hyped Spiral with Chris Rock, the animated film Onward, The Croods 2, and Tom and Jerry.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early and park their cars, before purchasing or collecting their confectionery from the Ster-Kinekor concession stall, or food from the Food District.
Sandton City also plans on supporting independent filmmakers, producers, and distributors, and the team is currently exploring opportunities to screen local film content at The City Drive-In.

Seafood gets an occasional look in, too. And the menu isn’t strictly steakhouse – brunch lovers can indulge in their breakfast offering, burger menu, and a few comfort food treats.
