Movingfeet Dance and Wellness Studio

Movingfeet’s aim is to enhance a student’s development neurologically and musically by teaching artistry, creativity and discipline through dance.

Movingfeet promotes the studies and relationship between music and intelligence and how students naturally respond to music largely due to the rhythmic melody of their mother’s voice whilst they are babies in the womb. Classes focus on spatial-temporal reasoning and teach the student a physical response to musical stimulation in both structured and creative sessions.

There are various dance classes for all ages including Baby to Adult Ballet, Tap, Mat Pilates, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Modern Theatre/Jazz. During each winter, the academy gives its dancers a chance to show off their skills with a dance showcase at Joburg Theatre.

If you’re unsure if you would like to join a class and want to just try it out, the studio also offers a free trial class.

Ioanna's Belly Dance Academy Arabesque Showcase

Ioanna’s Belly Dance Academy

Ioanna’s Dance Academy is a modern dance studio made for women, by women who are passionate about dance and helping others tap into their divine feminine.

This dance academy in Pretoria is open to women of all ages and body types, with no experience needed for the entry-level and open classes. Classes offered include Belly Dance, Belly Dance fusion, and Yoga, and classes come in a wide variety to suit whatever goals members may like to achieve.

In 2026, the academy offers 3 various course-types:

1.Belly Dance Level Classes – Here, dancers progress confidently through a multi-level system with each phase meticulously built on a foundation of theory, technical drills, musicality, historical context, and multiple style exploration. Levels include Beginner: Level 1 (LV1), Advanced Beginner: Level 2 (LV2), Intermediate: Level 3 (LV3), Intermediate-Advanced: Level 4 (LV4), and Advanced: Level 5 (LV5). The Level dancers also get to show off their skills in a year-end showcase in November.

2. Belly Dance Open Classes – These open classes are perfect for dancers of all levels and experience. While focused on continuous movement, participants still enjoy plenty of technique, cultural information, and high-energy fun without the rigorous structure of the Level classes. These classes include:

  • Beginner Belly Dance Class (starting 9 April 2026) – a space designed for absolute beginners to explore movement in a way that feels empowering, expressive, and deeply freeing
  • Dancing Divas, a slow-paced class designed for more mature women
  • Creative Class, where participants unlock their creative potential, improve their fitness, and gain confidence in six weeks
  • HIIT for Hips, where participants learn fun, intense, and focused belly dance drills

3. Yoga Workshops – Yoga with Ioanna guides students to a calmer, more peaceful inner world. The studio offers Thematic Yoga Workshops once a month, and in the summer months they also host a sunset rooftop yoga session on the last Sunday of each month. Enquire about these classes via WhatsApp.

Each November, the academy’s level and technique classes get to dance in front of an audience filled with loved ones, peers, and fans of belly dancing for the annual year-end showcase. Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio

If you fancy yourself a set of dance skills fit for Hollywood, then Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio takes centre stage. With a branch in Pretoria, in Fourways and Benoni, Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio specialises in American Style Ballroom and Latin American Dancing for a social level.

Ministry of Dance

Ministry of Dance in Johannesburg North boasts four dance spaces in one location offering a multitude of dance styles from Jazz and Modern to Acrobatics, Latin American, Hip Hop and Ballet, to name but a few.

Blair Willson and her team of teachers pride themselves on bringing quality and affordable dance instruction to anyone who sets foot in the studios. A key factor about Baila Afrika’s dance classes is that they aim to teach both the dance style and its history, promoting cultural appreciation and a new respect for dance as a whole. Dance Junxion

The Dance Junxion specialises in social and competitive Latin and Ballroom dancing as well as dances like Bachata, Kizomba, Salsa and Argentine Tango, with Teen Dance classes also available.

For those with a liking for the spicier side of life, this is the place to be. Owned and run by Tony and Marda Vasconcellos, they proudly provide a home of dance for those exploring the art form recreationally as well as those who dance to perfect their art.
