The Annual Clearwater Mall Race Returns to Roodepoort with its First-Ever 21km Route

Runners, take your mark as the annual Clearwater Mall race, in proud partnership with Panorama Running Club, returns on Saturday, 23 August 2025, with a bold new feature: the event’s first-ever 21km race.

Building on years of community enthusiasm and athletic achievement, the event now offers participants three distances to choose from: the new 21km, the ever-popular 10km race and the family-friendly 5km fun run. Here’s what you need to know.

Get ready to go the distance

The Clearwater Mall race event welcomes participants aged 16 and up for the 21km run, 14+ for the 10km run, and children aged 5 and older for the 5km fun run.

“This event has become a fixture on the local race calendar,” says Prianka Singh Rodgers, Marketing Manager at Clearwater Mall. “Introducing the 21km is an exciting next step. We’ve seen such strong support over the years, and we’re proud to offer something more for our loyal running community while keeping it inclusive and welcoming for newcomers too.”

Prizes for the top finishers in each category

Bragging rights aren’t the only thing on offer. From podium finishes to mountain conquests, there’s plenty to aim for. Cash prizes will be awarded across distances and age groups, with special honours reserved for those who outpace the pack on the toughest climb to be crowned King or Queen of the Mountain.

Break the 10km course records – 30m 49s for men or 36m 27s for women – and you’ll earn more than applause. Winners will be celebrated at the prize giving, kicking off at 8.30am in the finish area.

Need to know before you go

Entries are now open, with online registration closing at 11.59pm on 17 August 2025. In-centre registration will be available at the Info Court (Entrance 2) on 21 and 22 August 2025 from 3pm to 7pm, and on the day at Entrance 1 from 5.30am.

Cost: R100pp for the 5km, R180pp for the 10km and R240 for the 21km. Temporary licences are available for those not affiliated to a running club at R60 for the 10km race and R70 for the 21km race | Enter online

When: Saturday, 23 August 2025. Start times are 7am for the 10km and 21km, and 7.30am for the 5km. Cut-off times at 9am and 10am respectively.
Where: Starts near Entrance 1 at Clearwater Mall, Hendrik Potgieter Rd, Christiaan de Wet Rd, Strubens Valley, Roodepoort. Ends in the Lifestyle Parking area opposite the mall
