Castle Lite Unlocks Travis Scott | What's on in Joburg

Review: Fans Took Centre Stage at Castle Lite Unlocks & Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus Show

On Saturday, 11 October 2025, Castle Lite not only presented international superstar Travis Scott’s Circus Maximus Tour in Joburg, but they also orchestrated a city-spanning experience that had fans at the heart of it all.

As Scott prepared to take the stage at FNB Stadium later that evening, Castle Lite hosted a curated experience for a select group of fans that began as soon as they boarded the Gautrain on the way to the stadium.

Here’s our breakdown of everything that went right, and some of the challenges experienced that otherwise resulted in an unforgettable evening.

Castle Lite teamed up with Gautrain to provide seamless travel for fans

The Castle Lite Unlocks Experience began as early as 11am. Gautrain stations raised the curtain to street performers and interactive QR codes unlocking exclusive merch. As invited guests stepped onto the train, they were greeted by decorative lighting and a surprise set by none other than Zakes Bantwini, transforming a routine ride to the stadium into a literal ‘party on the tracks’.

Once the train reached Park Gautrain Station, guests disembarked to more entertainment at the station before making their way to Gaubuses where the vibes did not stop, as Castle Lite representatives continued to set the tone, playing music from speakers. The buses dropped guests off directly at the stadium, where the invite-only curated fan experience continued.

Gaubuses were also available for drop-off back at Park Gautrain Station after the show until 12.30am, with the last train departing at 1am. While this certainly helped to offset an influx of ubers at the stadium, uber fairs were still high well into the early morning hours at both the stadium and at Park Gautrain Station.

The Castle Lite Unlocks Experience featured activations and show-stopping performances

Once dropped off at the stadium, about 3500 Castle Lite Unlocks Experience ticketholders were brought to a private experience at the Goldrush Dome, which included immersive soundscapes, bold brand activations from Castle Lite themselves as well as NBA, and surprise drops, from limited-edition merch to unexpected collaborations.

An experience highlight was the electrifying Hip Hop Unlocked performances by Kwesta, A-Reece, 25K and Touchline. The four local artists played their own hits whilst also paying tribute to the South African artists we have lost, highlighting the rich culture of hip hop that our country has.

Castle Lite’s Unlocks Experience carried the night forward with an explosive fusion of Hip Hop and Amapiano, featuring Focalistic, Blxckie, Young Stunna, and Soweto’s top-tier dancers, keeping fans immersed long after the main concert.

The performances were just what was needed to successfully amp fans up for Travis Scott but being that they were exclusive to Castle Lite Unlocks Experience ticketholders, those who only had tickets to the Travis Scott concert were left with only DJs to get properly primed for the event.

Once the Castle Lite Unlocks Experience performers were done, guests made their way to the main stadium, where after a bit of confusion regarding where to find seats, they awaited Travis Scott’s performance in the rain.

Due to the weather, Scott, who was supposed to perform at 8.30pm, ended up coming out closer to 10pm, leaving fans who weren’t seated under cover waiting under the rain with no entertainment to keep them pumped up. Thankfully, the weather eventually calmed, and Travis Scott came out to deliver an incredible performance.

The stage was setup so that each person could get a clear enough view of Scott on stage, the lighting and stage features were impressive, and Travis delivered the performance of a lifetime, having the whole crowd singing and moshing along, until everyone had completely forgotten about the hour-long wait.
