Hover gently above the beautiful Magalies River Valley to enjoy game viewing, admire the landscapes, or soar above the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in one of Bill Harrop’s Original Balloon Safaris. Balloons leave just after sunrise for supreme views and the best weather and can take up to 18 people, or just two for a romantic escape.
Bill Harrop’s has been operating since 1981 and flies more than five thousand passengers every year. The air transport service is a family business run by Bill and his wife and daughter and 60 employees. Only qualified and experienced pilots are used for balloon rides, with well-maintained safety equipment and protocols.
Packages offered by Bill Harrop’s Balloon Safaris include a scenic Magalies River Valley Safari and a Game Viewing Safari at Mubula Private Game Reserve. The game reserve safari flies above the 12000-hectare Mabula Private Game Reserve where African wildlife such as the big 5 can be observed from the aerial view. All tours begin with a safety briefing and last approximately an hour. After landing, guests can enjoy champagne or breakfast at the nearby Clubhouse Pavilion.
