Taking place in showrooms, studios, and pop-up spaces, Cape Town Furniture Week features a programme of exhibitions, installations, talks and tours that invite both professionals and the public to discover and engage with contemporary South African design.
Since the first edition in 2023, Cape Town Furniture Week has established itself as a standout event on South Africa’s design calendar. With a particular focus on contemporary furniture, lighting and homeware, Cape Town Furniture Week unfolds across a network of walkable districts, transforming the city into an open, decentralised design destination.
The Cape Town Furniture Week programme takes on an annual theme for the first time. The 2026 theme, Contemporary Craft, is an invitation to engage with design as craftsmanship, to explore the intersection between old techniques and new technologies, to spotlight the process behind how products come to life, and ultimately to give value to things that take time.
Rather than concentrating activity within a single venue, Cape Town Furniture Week invites attendees to explore exhibitions and events across multiple locations in a number of districts. The format offers an experience shaped as much by place as by programme, with the walkable streets of Cape Town’s historic Inner City playing a starring role.
