The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra's Spring Symphonies at the City Hall will take place on Thursdays in September. Bernhard Gueller, the CPO's principal guest conductor is on the podium for the first three concerts and Robert Maxym is the conductor for the final concert.
In the second concert, Pianist Jayson Gillham performs Sibelius The Swan of Tuonela, Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21 in C, K. 467, Mendelssohn Notturno from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and Mendelssohn Symphony No. 4 in A "Italian".
Described as a 'story-teller' (Gramophone) and 'the ideal romantic' (Limelight), Australian-British pianist Jayson Gillham is internationally admired for his compelling performances. As a soloist, solo recitalist, chamber musician and recording artist, this winner of the Leeds and Van Cliburn competitions has performed in some of the world's foremost concert halls and with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic, the Hallé, and Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal.
Secure parking on the Grand Parade is provided and additional security with dogs keep a watch out. It's business as usual with a bar and printed programmes but please note only Snapscan or credit cards can be used since no cash is allowed at the City Hall.
