The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra concludes its Winter Symphony season with violinist Daniel Rowland and conductor Bernhard Gueller.
Dutch violinist Daniel Rowland gives the first CPO performance of Latvian composer Peteris Vasks’ Violin Concerto No. 1, “Distant Light”, a 1996 work self-described as "nostalgia with a touch of tragedy". Bernhard Gueller, conductor laureate of both the CPO and Symphony Nova Scotia in Canada, directs the orchestra through Schubert’s majestic Symphony No. 9 and Ravel's Ma Mère l’Oye.
