Dietmar Wiening is one of South Africa's leading bronze sculptors and his work can be viewed at his art gallery and sculpture garden at Broederstroom in the North West. Birds and marine life were the original themes Wiening used in exotic food displays, so it was a natural transition to perfect these for his series of bronzes.
He built his own foundry in 1997 and casts all his work himself. He uses high quality bronze and casts in the lost wax procedure as well as highly effective ceramic shell technology.
Wiening's distinctive bronzes can easily be identified by his particular mounting techniques and his own enhancing patinas. His bronze work has attracted local and international collectors and can be found in many private and corporate collections worldwide. Every sculpture is signed and carries an edition number.
While the artist is known for his replicas of bird and marine life, he has also embraced figurative and abstract sculpture and paintings. His gallery offers services such as restorations, and architectural and water features. Commissions are welcome.
