Prof. Elfriede Dreyer curates art that engages with a diversity of issues pertaining to the world of South Africans, such as gender and identity; environmental concerns; redress and decoloniality; trauma and violence; personal and social engagement; life in and outside the city; and African modernism.
edg2020 also exhibits, sources, curates and installs artworks for corporates, embassies, private homes and art festivals. They provide advice and inspection reports, as well as art brokering and acquisition advice to art collectors. They have curating experience accumulated from more than 30 years in the local art industry. Artist participation is by invitation and selection.
The venture launched in June 2020 as an online sequel to Fried Contemporary Art Gallery & Studio in Pretoria, which was founded in 2005 by Dreyer and Charles Gijzelaar. The gallery was sold as a successful going concern in 2014. It was selected as one of the Top 10 contemporary galleries in South Africa.
