Fazioli Series Concert 2

The Fazioli Series presents baritone William Berger Cape Town Opera CEO and pianist Alex Gabriel in the second of three concerts showcasing the versatility of special limited-edition hand-made Fazioli pianos.

In 1985, a 5 year old William Berger read poems from South African poet, MER’s children’s poetry collection on SABC TV. Now, four decades later, the internationally acclaimed baritone celebrates his own homecoming with Awie van Wyk’s “Surinkies” – the same poems set to music.

Come and be entranced by the beautiful interpretation of these Afrikaans poems and other musical gems by Grieg, Britten and Ravel that re-awaken the nostalgia of home and childhood. The concert lasts around 1 hour long with seating in-between and above the pianos.

Afterwards guests are invited behind the scenes to the workshop for a complimentary glass of Creative Block wine, kindly sponsored by Spier Wine Farm, where they can explore inside the world of the piano and its music, with the artists and technicians.

Proceeds from these concerts go towards the Kramer Concert Series Trust in support of the future of the Cape Town Concert Series.
