Forest Bathing

Forest Bathing Cape Town is a unique and regenerative journey through nature.

Otherwise known as forest therapy, Forest Bathing is the conscious and contemplative practice of being immersed in the sights, sounds and natural, earthy fragrances of a forest.

The experience takes place Monday to Friday at Kirstenbosch Gardens and at weekends in Newlands Forest. Once there, guests are encouraged to relax and awaken their senses through guided meditation. During this time, the group also engages in discussions about the healing power of nature. This is followed by an exploration of the ‘Wood Wide Web’ of forests, mycelium and mushrooms.

Participants then find a quiet place to be alone and absorb the healing energy of the environment. The session concludes with a brief yoga practice and a cup of honey and ginger tea.

The group is kept to a maximum number of ten members. Each experience is between four and six hours. This includes the walk in and out of the forest.

Forest Bathing is open to anyone older than 15. No particular fitness level is required, as long as guests are able to walk short distances from the car park to the forest venue and back (3-5km).
