Gariep Nature Reserve, close to the town of Venterstad, has been described as ‘a piece of mountain-biking nirvana’ due to its abundance of mountain biking trails.
Trails are on gravel road or jeep-track and cover 150km of out-and-back routes, starting at either the Oviston Nature Reserve or Gariep Forever Resort gates. For the price of an entrance bikers are in game viewing territory within a few kilometres where summiting a kopje to pass a herd of mountain zebra is par for the course, while the grassy plains and banks are home to antelope.
