Gecko Jewellers World of Gemstones, Africa’s largest gemstone outlet and jewellery showroom, houses a wide variety of jewellery, loose and plated gemstones, rocks, beads, crystals and carvings.
The company has built a replica of their own mine, the Mapatiza Mine, to offer educational tours displaying the journey of their stones from being mined from the earth to becoming a statement piece of jewellery.
Guests have the opportunity to walk through the replicated underground mine passageways and witness rare African gems being shaped, polished and cobbed. The most favoured stones mined from their Zambian mine, such as the Amethyst, Citrine, Topaz and Peridot can be examined. The showroom also offers gems such as Tanzanite, Sapphire, Aquamarine, Jasper, Onyx, Crystal Quartz, Rose Quartz, Diamonds, Obsidian, Ruby, Emerald, Tourmaline, Opal, and even the Northern Cape native, Tiger's Eye. The company claims all its gems are 100% real, with hundreds of designs available to choose from.
The wholesale shopping experience for parents is matched with multiple play areas for kids, pedal cars, and a family Gemstone Scratchpatch where hundreds of gemstones are available to scratch through to expand your collection.
Gecko Jewellers World of Gemstones is open to the public on weekends and public holidays. Families can visit the mine, book kids birthday parties and baby showers, or go to their in-house coffee shop.
