Gliding Through the Galleries is a guided art walk through a curated selection of Johannesburg’s art spaces, followed by a soiree to connect the art curious community. The special anniversary edition of the glide celebrates one year of cultivating community, conversation, and cultural exchange through contemporary art.
The day will begin with intimate studio visits with prominent Johannesburg-based artists, offering guests rare insight into artistic process, materiality, and the spaces where contemporary culture is being shaped.
From there, guests will transition into an elevated edition of Breaking Bread, hosted at a beautiful private venue overlooking the city. Curated by Mpumi Mayisa, the luncheon will unfold alongside a one-day exhibition featuring contemporary works in conversation with the spirit of gathering, beauty, and exchange.
Presented in collaboration with Lady Day, the culinary experience will frame food as art - inviting guests into a sensory afternoon centred around a thoughtfully curated two-course meal, drinks, conversation, community, and panoramic views of Johannesburg.
More than an event, this anniversary edition is a celebration of the relationships, creative energy, and cultural ecosystem cultivated through Gliding Through the Gallery over the past year.
