Good Neighbours is a celebration of music, design, poetry, fashion and food from all over the African continent.
It began in 2021 with the idea that there is a Hidden Thread that binds the continent despite its artificial borders. In the spirit of this concept of connection, this year's the event, hosted and curated with Tawanda Gwasera, welcomes creative and cultural contributors from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Nigeria, Eswatini, Morocco, Mozambique, Kenya, Egypt and South Africa.
The event is staged with Capitec handmadeAFRICA, a new boutique retail concept that brings the continent’s best ethically and sustainably produced contemporary design to South Africa. It is a nomadic shopping experience thoughtfully curated to bring an additional design dimension to much-loved events on annual calendars around the country.
Courtesy of Capitec handmadeAFRICA, the design showcase features Moroccan brands such as Oumaäti, LRNCE, Andy Wahloo by Hassan Hajjaj, Ulili Moroccan Scents, Roxa, Travel, Maaÿaz, and Benimane. The musical lineup to set the ambience throughout the afternoon features incredible African acts including Bongo Maffin (Zimbabwe, South Africa), Femi Koya (Nigeria), Mpho Sebina (Botswana), Bholoja (Eswatini), Berita (Zimbabwe), and Louis Mhlanga (Zimbabwe).
NIROX's Epicurean Emporium provides a fresh offering of African-inspired culinary options, including Mpho Phalane’s Food, I Love You pop-up restaurant under the trees, and Bernie’s Bar extends its curated selection of beverages to include African beers and African-inspired cocktails for the event.
