Event information
The Guerrilla Mosaic Bombing project is a public art intervention to inspire locals and visitors to engage with the buildings and the creativity of Cape Town.
Starting in the city centre, a number of buildings have - overnight - been 'bombed' with a small mosaic by a local artist. Can you spot them all?
Eight Cape Town-based professional artists in the Spier Arts network, in collaboration with 15 artisans, have been invited to participate and create mosaic works that speak to their current practice. These small mosaic works (no larger than 50x50 cm) are installed permanently on walls and structures around the city metropole district, in this street art installation.
Subjects tackled in these works include identity, social inequality and the natural environment. This project aims to boost tourism in the city as well as provide an income for local talent.
There is one outside and one inside the Heritage Square complex... we suggest starting here.
