Hidden Jozi: The City Walk by Grindhouse

Hidden Jozi: The City Walk by Grindhouse is the ultimate gateway to exploring Johannesburg’s soul on foot.

This guided walking experience through Marshalltown and Newtown reveals the layers of Egoli’s history, from its gold mining roots to its street art present. Expect local storytelling that blends heritage, art, and city culture, a creative lens on Joburg’s streets, presented by Grindhouse, and a memorable walking tour that connects history to today’s urban energy.

Over 2.5 hours, participants are taken to six stops that uncover the city’s hidden gems:

1. Gandhi Square – a hub of connection with deep historic roots.
2. Marshalltown Heritage Buildings – Joburg’s gold rush beginnings in stone and steel.
3. Turbine Hall – from power station to cultural landmark.
4. The Workers Museum – stories of labor, resilience, and community.
5. Mary Fitzgerald Square – a stage for protests, concerts, and public life.
6. Newtown Graffiti Walls – bold street art narrating the city’s modern identity.
