Local NPO Ladles of Love once again invites individuals and businesses to roll up their sleeves and volunteer to support children in need at their Mandela Day flagship event.
Purchasing a ticket commits ticketholders to spending 2 hours in active service making items to help nurture and grow little ones at pre-school centres and shelters. Each R300 ticket is also deemed a donation, as with the money spent on just one ticket, a child receives two nutritious meals a day for a month and for this donation, the ticketholder can also request an 18A Tax certificate.
In the spirit of ubuntu, volunteers can choose from various activities is various activation zones:
*Make - spread and make sandwiches or make and pack boxes filled with items
*Create - create early childhood development education posters, flash cards and activity workbooks.
*Craft - craft teaching aids to support early childhood development and bring lessons around good nutrition to life for the children
*Grow - produce grow seed boxes to provide urban farmers with starter kits to supply preschools with fresh produce and make healthy meals for children and teachers
To ensure anyone can participate, there is also an option to ‘Create Your Own’ event anytime from 17 to 31 July 2026 by ordering Create Your Own kits for delivery anywhere in South Africa.
