Founded in 1976, Milnerton Aquatic Club (MAC) is situated within the Rietvlei Nature Reserve with Table Mountain as a majestic backdrop.
MAC’s waters are ideally suited to sailing, wake boarding, skiing, SUPing, canoeing, kayaking and the Club has become a popular destination for overseas board sailors, as well as remote control model boat sailing.
Training/coaching programmes are available for all ages and levels – the most popular being the junior courses. MAC also recently became the only place in Cape Town where the disabled (all-inclusive) have access to sailing.
The club also offers windsurfing and wingfoiling lessons, as well as equipment hire. It is also possible to rent kayaks, pedal boating and stand up paddle boards by the hour.
Members of the Power Section may use their craft on the vlei so long as they have approved CoF’s and skippers tickets. The memberships consists of free tow skiers, wake boarders, knee boards and tubes. No jet skis, wet bikes or any type of water jet propulsion craft are allowed on the vlei.
Members and their guests can enjoy the club’s galley restaurant and bar, which offer exquisite views over the vlei and Table Mountain. The restaurant offers breakfasts as well as staples such as fish and chips, burgers and pizzas. Members are also welcome to bring their own food to braai after spending a day on the water.
MAC also has a swimming pool, a toddler’s pool and a small play park for little ones.
The Club hosts social events with live music 2 to 3 times per month, generally on Sunday afternoons between 3pm – 5pm. It also hosts regular quiz nights, and is a popular place for catching big matches on big screens.
